SALMON RUN MALL TO HOST JUNETEENTH BLOOD DRIVE
FOR SICKLE CELL AWARENESS
(Watertown, NY) Salmon Run Mall will host a community blood drive, with emphasis on sickle cell awareness, on Juneteenth, Wednesday, June 19th with the American Red Cross from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Court Area near Billy Beez.
Patients with sickle cell disease may face severe pain, organ damage, and even stroke – however, blood transfusions can make a lifesaving difference, especially those that are closely matched to the patient’s blood type. African American blood donors can play a critical role in the treatment of those with sickle cell disease – most of whom are of African descent.
Patients with sickle cell disease often face a lifetime of treatment – including thousands of blood transfusions, so roll up a sleeve and give blood at the Juneteenth Celebration Blood Drive at Salmon Run Mall on June 19th.
